No such thing as bad news…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 4:30 am

They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for
them. Psalms 112:7

Take a moment and read this
passage from verse 5 to 10 and notice the assurance given to the person who
conducts his affairs in this manner. How does it all start? In verse one, we
have the answer; Praise the Lord, How joyful are those who fear the LORD and
delight in obeying his commands.

I don’t need to fear bad
news. I don’t need to stress or to be anxious (another instruction given to us
in Philippians 4:6-7). He knows my situation. He asks me to praise, honor and
obey Him. He does the rest.

The Lord asks me to display
the qualities of love, compassion and generosity and He promises to do the
rest, to give me influence and the strength to complete the task. I like that
because too often we are the ones trying to create our own level of influence
and strength to control situations and simply mess it up.

Our efforts are always
artificial and come with expiration dates and this is often why we do fear bad
news, because we realize that we are not resting, not trusting, not waiting for
Him to lead and resolve a matter.

Start by praising Him this
morning and thanking Him for all He has done, rather than looking at all that
has not yet happened. Answers to your prayers are coming. He knows exactly what
we need and when. I think of Daniel (Daniel 10:12-13) who waited three weeks
for answers to prayer due to the spiritual warfare surrounding him. He was in
the right place with the Lord but needed to wait and the answers still came.

Don’t fear bad news today.
The Lord is sovereign, He knows…
