Bouncing back…

He got up and went back into the town. Acts 14:20

This passage from Acts is part of a larger story where Paul
was nearly killed but then got up and went right back into town to finish what
he started. Paul knew his calling and he knew who he was called by.

He was committed to where God had put him until it was time
to move to the next place. Despite the difficulty, despair and persecution he
looked beyond it all and focused on the task at hand.

It is hard to stay in a place where we are not supported or
feel welcome. It is even harder to return to that place each day or each week
when we feel threatened and exposed.

To be still before God is not always easy but it is
necessary so that the best possible outcome can take place. Sometimes the
strain exists in a marriage, other times it is in your place of employment or
perhaps in your family or even in your church.

Paul was resilient because he knew that God had called him
to that place at that time. This assurance only comes from a relationship with
God and an understanding that despite our lack of understanding, He is always
sovereign and in control…
