People watching…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 5:00 am

“Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Acts 16:30

Isn’t it ironic how we are always concerned about how others
view us and what they are thinking about yet we seem so surprised when someone
actually says “I’ve been watching you and saw how you handled that situation”.

People do watch us all the time. If they know where we stand
spiritually then the microscope seems to be in focus that much more.

What we don’t seem to think about too often, however, is
that our responses and reactions send messages to others that often influence
their thinking one way or another. Some people are more influential than they
realize and even the slightest shift in attitude can send a ripple effect that
has a lasting impact.

Paul and Silas’ action in Philippi resulted in a dramatic
turn of events. As the people watched them and how they handled their situation
those same people changed from persecuting to praising.

I’m not sure that most of us will have a similar experience
as Paul and Silas, although some clearly have, but the instruction to us
remains the same. Our lives are our witness of Christ. People notice more about
the things we do vs. the things we say.
