Be prepared…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 5:00 am

The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD. Proverbs 21:31

Even though we depend upon God to work in our lives this dependency does not negate our responsibility to be prepared.

Wherever we are in life for the moment is where we need to be most prepared.

Preparation means to maintain a life of prayer and devotion to God but it also means taking practical steps and measures to ensure we are informed, ready and able to meet the responsibilities before us.

For a teacher it means knowing the subjects they teach, investing the time in the lives of the children they are responsible for and being a role model.

For an employee it means understanding their business well enough to earn respect, be credible and care for the customers they serve in a manner that is noticeably different from what other companies do. The examples go on…

Sadly there are many professing believers that are often ill prepared, not knowledgeable about their business and, in some cases, weighed down with an attitude.

Their horse was not prepared for battle and when the battles came they lost.

As J. Vernon McGee used to say…”when a farmer prays for a corn crop, God expects him to say ‘amen’ with a hoe.”
