Explain this…

Explain this…

For through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see; such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Colossians 1:16-17

In just two verses we are reminded of how awesome our God is and how we can never understand all that He is and has done. Even if the facts were presented to me I still could not explain how it all works together and fits perfectly into His divine plan.

I stare at the sky at night and am amazed at how vast it really is. Then I bring my thoughts back down to earth and realize that there are so many things in life I cannot explain. God is in everything and He is just waiting for us to see Him there, everywhere…

How can the Lord hold all creation together but not my personal circumstances? Why do I even attempt to figure things out when I cannot explain common, everyday occurrences?

Explain this if you can.

  • Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
  • John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
  • Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
  • John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
  • Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
  • Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.
  • Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
  • Both Presidents were shot in the head.
  • Lincoln’s secretary was named Kennedy.
  • Kennedy’s Secretary was named Lincoln.
  • Both were assassinated by Southerners.
  • Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
  • Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
  • Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
  • John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
  • Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
  • Both assassins were known by their three names.
  • Both names are composed of fifteen letters.
  • Lincoln was shot at the theater named “Ford.”
  • Kennedy was shot in a car called “Lincoln” made by “Ford.”
  • Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
  • A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
  • A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

AND…

  • Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a warehouse…
  • Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theater…

We read this and are amazed at the intricate similarities but how much more intricate is our God…
