In the end, God wins…

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 2 Thessalonians 2:8

Living in this world and makes it quite difficult to avoid the thoughts of when Jesus will return. Not that I desire to avoid such thoughts but they are certainly more prevalent when we see all that is taking place around us with our economy, the risks of terrorism, the cultural differences we face and the belief systems of so many.

One such example was a recent cab ride I had to the airport. I was in a Western European country and was on my way to Eastern Europe. Within a couple minutes of getting into the taxi the driver struck up a conversation.

He wanted to know where I was from and then proceeded to tell me how 9/11 was planned by the US and the Jews. He had strong opinions on how Europe viewed the Jews and how his native country felt about them.

Although he made the statement that he did not support all the views of his own country, it was evident that the culture and belief system he was raised under had clearly instilled a pre-disposition into him about the Jewish people and their place in history.

We exchanged polite conversation about these topics and his country’s views and in the end cordially parted as we both went off to our day’s work.

This 25 minute exchange left me wondering just how many people there are roaming around in daily life that carry such thoughts. Just as we carry the thoughts of Christ’s return these people carry the thoughts of advancing plans and actions that will ultimately, without knowing what they are doing, bring about God’s intended plan.

This is what I find comfort in most, seeing it all come together; knowing God has it all sorted out the way He wants it and the security we can have in Christ and not be frightened or intimidated by those who oppose Him.

We know the end of this story, God wins…
