Open the Bible and see Him…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 5:00 am

And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. Hebrews 1:2-3

There have been times in my life when I really needed to see God. I was disturbed and distressed over certain circumstances and I desperately wanted to not only hear from the Lord but also wanted Him to show up right there, right then and help me. Have you found yourself doing the same thing at times?

Sometimes life gets that bad. You go to work one morning only to find that job security is something others get to enjoy. You lose a loved one and they are no longer there to share with especially when reconciliation was needed. You go for the routine physical only to discover you have an advanced form of cancer yet you are fit, eat well and look great. What happened? I suppose we would say, “life happened”…

Yet, when these things or similarly difficult things occur in our lives we suddenly find ourselves no longer thinking about that next purchase or investment. The planned vacation takes a back seat and now we want to really see God in all of this. When you squeeze an orange you expect to get orange juice but often when we are squeezed we discover that Christ is not always what comes out.

If you really need to see God today then stop, look no further. Open your Bible and stare at Him. You see, in this passage from Hebrews we have one of the most powerful statements of Christ’s divinity and deity anywhere in scripture.

Jesus Christ is the full and complete revelation of God. To see Jesus is to see God Himself. We don’t have to conjure up an image or look to an icon of some person who is supposed to be Jesus. He is found right there in scripture and we have His words and responses to life’s pressures and situations.

If you are worried that God can’t create an answer to your problem…it says that through the Son He created the universe…

If you are unsure about God’s character then look to Jesus…it says He expresses the very character of God meaning He is the exact representation not a duplicate or substitute…

If you are wondering whether God can hold you up and see you through this crisis…it says that He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command. In this context the term sustain means to take the burden upon yourself.

Jesus took all our burdens upon Himself and as V3 correctly states “When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven”.
