I will hold you up…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 5:00 am

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10

I need strength today, do you? I don’t mean the kind to open a jar or lift something heavy but the kind that gets us through trials and periods of waiting when there is deafening silence.

We are not very good at remembering that the Lord is at work while we wait. We see the stillness of life and we panic. People don’t return phone calls or emails, we continue to step out in faith without any seemingly positive result, we get some answers to our questions but not exactly what we expected or can make sense of.

Silence has a way of stirring up anxiety in us because we live in such an instant gratification world. We are quick to judge God’s love and care for us when actions don’t follow our prayers. We need strength for today to persevere but we also need to remember that the Lord says to not be afraid, He is with us!

When the Lord says don’t be afraid it is not because He is trying to scare us but rather to remind us of His great love and his ability to overcome anything in our lives. He desires that we respond to His love and as 1 John 4:18 tells us “Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear”.

This love for Him produces trust and a willingness to look beyond the fear of failure, the fear of certain news, the fear of things not working out and instead our faith grows in the One who will hold us up…
