Climate change…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 5:00 am

When the wicked are in authority, sin flourishes, but the godly will live to see their downfall. Proverbs 29:16

Let’s spend one more day on the topic of leadership, bad leaders to be specific. Depending on where you live, you probably have a certain expectation of the weather. In other words, whether you realize it or not, if you live in Southern California or Arizona then things like your wardrobe are more than likely geared towards the sunny, warm weather that these areas typically experience.

Of course you are prepared for the occasional cold day and inclement weather but history tells you that more often than not you can expect the weather to be consistent. Leadership is a bit like this. The climate of your business, your church, your marriage all stems from the top.

Even the most spirit filled churchgoers and employees will experience the heavy burden of bad or sinful leadership. This principle is not easily understood by too many. They nod in agreement when they hear it but it does not seem to resonate with how they act out their responsibilities.

When a leader is making subjective statements based on opinion and hearsay or when they have “little secrets” or “inner circles” in how they run things or when they show favoritism and manipulate the people in subtle ways…this climate will permeate everything and everyone.

People need to be in environments where they can learn, serve, thrive and experience growth without fear of the weather changing. We can all prepare for inclement weather…
