Who else but God…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 5:00 am

Everything is going against me! Genesis 42:36

These were Jacob’s words as he learned the news from Egypt that now Benjamin, his youngest, was to be brought back to Egypt also. Jacob had lost Joseph, Simeon was being held prisoner and now he was being asked to give up Benjamin.

But just around the corner, over the horizon, the news would be revealed. Jacob would discover that Joseph had never died but in fact was now the most powerful man in Egypt under Pharaoh. He would discover that Joseph had grown into a wonderful man of God and would be used by the Lord to now provide and protect his family.

How often we say the same thing. We have a seeming failure, one after another. The business never seems to go well, finances don’t improve, relationships seemingly worsen, we experience constant troubles with our co-workers and managers, the challenges of our family who reject Christ and us, the illness that does not seem to improve and at times only gets worse, and so on, and so on, and so on…

But God…

But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! Ps. 54:4

But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. Ps. 66:19

But God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. Ps. 73:26

But God knew what would happen… Acts 2:23

But God, who encourages those who are discouraged… 2 Cor.7:6

We know He listens and cares, we have seen Him act on our behalf before and realize even now that just around the bend, right over the hill, He is coming and will bring the answers to our prayers…

Who else but God…
