The best path to take…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 5:00 am

The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Psalms 32:8

From the moment we see David being anointed as the future King of Israel (1 Samuel 16), he begins a whirlwind of a journey for nearly the next decade until he finally assumes the role he was destined for.

All along that time, however, we see his life take huge swells like those you see in a fierce ocean storm.

At first David experiences the incredible victory of God working through him to defeat Goliath but then we see him fleeing for his life from the jealousy and irrational behavior of Saul. David has weak moments where he is feeling defeated, he lies at one point to save his life (1 Samuel 21) but eventually arrives at the place where the Lord had planned for him.

“Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you”. (Psalms 143:8). David said this and learned over time just how faithful the Lord really is. We don’t realize how the events in our lives shape us and continue to guide us along the path we are on. Have you considered how amazing it really is to have the Creator of the universe tell you that He will advise you and watch over you?

Lord, help me take this promise to heart today. Let me really learn that you desire the “best” pathway for my life not just an acceptable one. You don’t live in mediocrity and you don’t want us to live there either. Father, give me the wisdom and the stillness to hear you and see what you would have me do and Lord continue to give me a deeper love for you and your Word…
