Take it back…

I take back everything I said…Job 42:6

As the book of Job concludes, Job comes to the realization of who God really is. After reasoning in his heart and mind over the events that God allowed to enter his life and after hearing the arguments his friends made for and against his situation, he now sees how God’s hand was in all of it and how sovereign He really is.

He realizes that the things that he said and thought that may have been against God are not true at all and he makes a statement that all people will make one way or another as it relates to God…”I take back everything I said”…

How often have we judged another person unfairly and prematurely, only to realize that we were wrong and the other person’s motives and intentions were right? How many times have we looked at our circumstances and automatically assumed what God was doing only to discover He had an entirely different plan in mind?

Instead of waiting to see how the Lord will work and trusting His guidance, I have the tendency to react too soon. But the scriptures tell us that one day we will all acknowledge Him and if we have been those who rejected Him then we will take back everything we’ve said.

For it is written: “As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way. Romans 14:11-13

As the Psalmist prayed, so should we…”Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. (Psalms 141:3)
