The same power in us…

the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead…Ephesians 1:19-20

All throughout scripture we see the mighty power of God working in creation, in nature and in the lives of people. We bask in His greatness and love to read the stories in the Bible over and over again for encouragement and reminders of just how awesome the Lord really is.

Yet, even with all this intellectual understanding of God’s power we still find ourselves grumbling, complaining, distressed, anxious, fearful and uncertain about God’s power in our own lives.

The Bible tells us that God gives strength to His people (Psalms 29:11). This strength, or power, is not some smaller version that God keeps bottled up on the side to feed to His people through an eyedropper. No, we see from this passage in Ephesians that the power God gives us and works through us is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him at the right hand of the Father.

The same power that raised Jesus! The same power that controls all of nature and creation is the same power that is available to the child of God.

Please consider that today as you sit with the Lord and open His word. Consider that the pressures upon you right now in your marriage, in your family, in your life can be helped by the power of God!

At the moment you feel weak and anxious, ready to quit and give up, it is then that you need to immediately go to God and ask for His strength, His power to help you. The Lord is not slack concerning His promises (2 Peter 3:9) and we have many in the word to remind us of His great working in the lives of His children.

Sit with Him today and be reminded of the great power of our God that is also in us…
