The labor department…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 5:00 am

The earnings of the godly enhance their lives, but evil people squander their money on sin. Proverbs 10:16

The term “earnings” in this verse is also translated as labor, wages, deeds…it refers to all the work that one may do in his or her life and specifically we are told that the work of the godly actually enhances their lives. In other words, those that are godly, those that not only look out for their own interests, those that are concerned about God’s reputation, those that want to see Christ glorified in their lives…

Those people will find that their labor leads to a life of enrichment, fulfillment, and satisfaction. We may want to relate this to monetary or material gain but it really refers to life and its fullness…fullness found only in Christ.

Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:8-9

The rewards in this life are many and we often miss them because we equate them to sizes and shapes but many times they come in small packages, seemingly unnoticed events, kind words, reputation and in many other ways.

Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. 1 Corinthians 15:58
