Still too many…

Filed under: Uncategorized — In the world but not of it @ 5:00 am

“There are still too many! Bring them down to the spring, and I will test them to determine who will go with you and who will not.” Judges 7:4

God has called you to do something, to go somewhere, to fulfill some purpose…

Perhaps you know what it is or are on the cusp of what you believe it is. But there is one problem, one obstacle in the way – the resources you have are too few. In your calculation of the situation, in your assessment of what is needed to go forth you see too few resources; not enough money, not the right people, a lack of interested supporters and mockers or those that are negative on what you are seeking to do.

Isn’t this the way that is often presented to us when we seek to step out in faith based on what we believe God is leading us to? You know the Lord has spoken to you about this specific direction. You have seen Him open doors that should have been closed. You have watched Him shut doors that you expected would open.

Now you are here and you took that initial step of faith in the integrity of your heart (Genesis 20:6), believing this is what God had you to do but now things seem to have stopped, at least outwardly we see no further evidence.

Perhaps, like the story of Gideon, the Lord is seeking to reduce your resources or even looking to get you to see that He is the only resource you need. Do you remember Jonathan’s statement in 1 Samuel?

“Let’s go across to the outpost of those pagans,” Jonathan said to his armor bearer. “Perhaps the LORD will help us, for nothing can hinder the LORD. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!” 1 Samuel 14:6

The size of our resources or the lack of them are no restriction for God to work. His resources are endless and if He has called us to a task then He has the resources to execute on it. You’ve heard the quote “where God guides, God provides”…

The Lord’s interest in our lives like that of Gideon’s is to remove the self sufficiency that often plagues us and to ultimately glorify Himself so that when the victory comes, when the purpose is fulfilled, when the venture is successful…we will give glory only to Him
